LGBTI Services
LGBTI Services are targeted towards the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex population. These services provide advice and support around sex, sexuality and gender as well as any other psychological issues you may be facing. There are a number of services available within the Nepean Blue Mountains region as well as many online services and services based in Sydney.
ACON helps LGBTI people and people with HIV take control of their mental health by providing a range of counselling services and a care coordination program for people with complex needs. Services offered by ACON include:
- HIV Counselling - free and confidential short term counselling (up to 12 sessions) for people with HIV, people at risk of HIV, people affected by HIV (eg partners, family and friends) and people testing for HIV.
- Confidential fee-based short term counselling (up to 12 sessions) for LGBTI people seeking support in relation to their mental health and wellbeing. Fees for this service are negotiated according to individual circumstances, and priority is given to people on low incomes or with limited options.
- Confidential, free short term counselling (up to 12 sessions) for LGBTI people and people with HIV seeking support in relation to their use of alcohol and other drugs.
- Free and confidential care coordination.

Qheadspace provides online peer support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, questioning and queer (LGBTIQ+) young people (aged 12-25). Young people can seek support online from ‘Queer Peers’- young people who have lived experience and training in peer support in a safe and welcoming space.
Young LGBTIQ+ people can log on anonymously and ask questions, about a range of topics like confusion about sexuality or gender, coming out to parents and friends, sex, sexual health, dating, or support services. Young people are welcome to log in and actively participate or just watch the discussion. Young people who might need professional support can be referred to eheadspace clinicians.

QLife is a national, peer run, free and anonymous telephone and web chat counselling and referral service for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or intersex (LGBTI), their friends and families. QLife operates from 3pm - midnight daily. Phone support is available on 1800 184 527, web chat support is available at qlife.org.au.

People who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or intersex (LGBTI) experiencing poor mental health, psychological distress, social isolation, discrimination, experiences of being misgendered and/or other social determinants that impact on their health and wellbeing.
