Emergency relief are all those services run by community organisations that help people address immediate basic needs in times of crisis. There are a number of emergency relief organisations in the Blue Moutains Region that provides immediate financial and/or material support for people who are experiencing extreme financial hardships, are homeless and at risk of harmlessnesses. including:

  • Food assistance
  • Budgeting assistance and/or

  • Clothing
  • Part-payment of utility account/s (such as telephone, electricity and water costs)
  • Transport or chemist vouchers
  • Rental assistance

Anglicare Emergency Relief Program

Anglicare’s Emergency Relief Program helps struggling families and individuals to stay on their feet until their situation improves. They can assist you with food parcels, vouchers and utility bills, based on individual assessment.

Blue Mountains Food Services provide a range of food services to ensure people with mental illness, aged or disabled and their carers receive quality and nutritious fresh and frozen meals in their homes. Mama Lana’s Community Foundation

Mama Lana’s Community Foundation provides hot, home-cooked meals four nights a week as well as care packs, food hampers, clothing and blankets to the homeless and underprivileged. Mid Mountains Neighbourhood Centre provides a number of services oriented around providing relief to community members. Sydney Water Payment Assistance Scheme

The St Marys Area Community Development Project (SMACD) in partnership with Sydney Water are happy to offer the Payment Assistance Scheme.

This Scheme provides emergency relief to customers struggling to pay their water bill. If you own and live in your home, or are a tenant who pays your own water usage (have your own meter) call the number below or visit a community agency for a confidential assessment of your individual circumstances.

Qualified case coordinators, or an accredited community agency, will talk to you about your situation. If you're eligible, they'll apply PAS credits directly to your Sydney Water bill to reduce your debt.

Vinnies Penrith Community Hub

Vinnies Penrith Community Hub is a client centred support and referral service operated by St Vincent de Paul Society Western Sydney. It offers emergency relief, assessment and referral support for people experiencing disadvantage. The Community Hub staff, members and volunteers will work with you to offer the best possible support for your needs.

Westcare Emergency Relief Service

The emergency relief team at Westcare Emergency Relief supports people in crisis situations to provide assistance in the form of:

  • Food (e.g. fresh and frozen food)
  • Care Kits (i.e. various combinations of packs including toiletries, basic daily essentials, underwear etc.)
  • Give away items of clothing
  • Utility bills assistance (i.e. vouchers for electricity, gas, phone and water)
  • Referral to financial counselling and home budgeting support

Windsor Baptist Church Emergency Relief provides assistance to those in need and/or financial crisis. Assistance is given in the form of vouchers for a variety of essential products and services such as:

Winmalee Neighbourhood Centre

Winmalee Neighbourhood Centre provides a number of projects related to emergency relief including a community food cupboard that provides subsidised food at low cost on a weekly basis, the SecondBite community food program that redistributes community food programs as well as Fire Recovery Assistance and Projects.
